Abstract

|
Neurilemmoma is a benign tumor which originates from the schwann cells of the nerve sheath and contains no neural elements. Compared to other soft tissue sites in the body, the oral cavity is very rare site of involvement in Neurilemmomal. Recently 30-year old policeman was admitted to National police Hospital with a complaint of pheasant egg sized lump in the base of tongue, which was also accompanied by mild degree of speech disturbance. At the time of surgery, a dumb-bell shaped, Hen egg sized tumor was successfully excised under general anesthesia, and the surgical specimen was proved as Neurilemmoma. The postoperative course was smooth and the patient was discharged with a good result.
